RED FLAGS TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN SHOPPING FOR A RENTAL

Have you been on the hunt for a new place to rent? Whether you like it or not, you can get a lot of surprises when looking for an apartment to rent. Nowadays, there are lots of types of scams and you have to make sure that you don’t fall for any of them.

So if your budget isn’t ready to take in the weight of a villa or a townhouses for sale in Dubai, you should consider renting while you check some new projects by Meraas that you can invest in shortly.

Here are some red flags that you should look out for when yaou’re looking for a rental property to live in:

  1. NO RECEIPT FOR A DEPOSIT

One of the biggest red flags you can think of is when a broker or management company doesn’t send or AT THE VERY LEAST offer a receipt for your deposit. You could get robbed. To avoid this, you should make sure that the company you are working with is legit.

If you know that you’re working with a serious group of people and you’re planning to take the risk, at least ask for an email receipt. This is proof of the transaction you’ve just made.

  1. LISTINGS WITHOUT PICTURES

If it isn’t obvious, a listing that doesn’t have at least three to four pictures of the place is a sign that you’re being scammed and the place is a dumpster. Be especially careful if the listing details are vague and there are no pictures to prove the state of the place.

  1. TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

Another big red flag for you is when you get an amazing price for something that costs more or if a landlord offers you a property that comes with lots of amenities. Also, be careful with photos that look that they were taken out of a magazine (they probably were).

  1. UNTIDY COMMON AREAS

If you see trash in the common areas or the landscaping of the new property you’re intending to rent, this is also a sign. If the landlord doesn’t even bother to clean up the place a little to show it off, what else could he not care about in the future?

Keep these red flags in mind and you’ll be okay! Go and hunt the place of your dreams!
